Are you waiting for the magic in your life to reveal itself?
Trying to decide what it is in life that will launch you into
the orbit of success?
"The universe is full of magical things patiently waiting for
our wits to grow sharper," said Eden Phillpots.
You have talents that are extraordinary and unique to YOU.
Creative imagination - the act of re-inventing yourself -
coupled with enthusiasm and commitment, can make the
difference between mediocrity and excellence.
I, myself, have a "silly" talent that some people find
fascinating. I can write backwards in cursive. I can also
write backwards-and-upside-down in cursive. So what? Could
that be used for ANY purpose in life?
Most would think not.
I know of a weatherman, however, with that same "silly"
talent. He stands behind a glass map and can write and
illustrate the weather for his audience without turning his
back. Wow! That's creativity! Imagine the advantages of
having such a talent if you are a teacher!
Walter Bageholt says, "The greatest pleasure in life is doing
what people say you cannot do." Use the talent you already
possess, and back it with imagination and perseverance.
There are times in the lives of every human being that fling
us - you and me - into the depths of darkness. When things
seem so bad that you find it difficult to see any light...when
your imagination tells you that the light at the end of the
tunnel must be a locomotive, and not the way out into the
sunshine.
These are times in which you will discover your weaknesses.
You will also discover strengths you never knew existed in
your inner soul. As you discover those strengths, use them as
the cornerstones that will transform your weaknesses into
personal power. After all, it is after the darkness that we
awaken.
Laurens Van du Post said, "The depth of darkness to which you
can descend and still live is an exact measure of the height
to which you can aspire to reach." Keep in mind, it will not
just come to you. You must "aspire to reach."
Horace, a teacher in ancient Rome who lived between 65 and 8
B.C., taught his students about adversity: "Adversity has
the effect of eliciting talents which, in prosperous
circumstances, would have lain dormant."
It is fascinating to think that ancient teachings can still be
relevant today. I suppose that is what makes Horace a
"classic." He really was a "class act."
"People are like stained – glass windows. They sparkle and
shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in,
their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from
within," said Elizabeth Kubler Ross.
Whatever your talent...whatever your gift...use it starting
today. If you are in a dark moment in your life, begin now
to pull yourself out. If you are in a sparkling moment, use
your enthusiasm to energize your action. There is no time
like the present.
