"Abundance is not something we acquire. It is
something we tune into," says Dr. Wayne Dyer. You define
abundance based on your attitudes, values, and view of the
world, and how you fit into that definition. For many,
abundance is measured in terms of the accumulation of great
wealth and material items, recognized to be valuable by a
specific demographic. Abundance also includes the cultivation
of personal relationships, spiritual balance, good health,
tolerance across cultural boundaries, wisdom to make sound
decisions, empathy and understanding for other people and
their circumstances, and freedom from fear.
Every
person carries within himself a belief system. This belief
system strongly influences how you interpret your
circumstances. Based on the results and consequences of that
which you have already experienced, you determine whether your
circumstances are pleasant or painful, acceptable or not. If
you are not positioned favorably by your own standards,
cultivate your inner self so it transforms into a
manifestation of greatness on the outside. You cannot achieve
lasting success until you are ready to accept it as a valuable
spiritual being. It is within your ability to control your
interpretation of the physical world, and to direct your
actions in ways that will complement the foundation of your
life.
If you
speak with fifty people, asking them what would constitute
success, you may be shocked at the answers. One person may
wish to play golf for the rest of his life. Another may dream
of vegging on a beach in the tropical sun. The next may hate
sand…or want to travel the globe and become a recognized
author...or direct a multi-billion dollar business from a
hi-rise urban office...or become the founder of a cancer
foundation...or discover a cure for Alzheimer's Disease.
Abundance springs from within. It must be a balanced
picture. You define what will make you feel
successful. If you envision the big picture of your life five
or ten years down the road, it may be easier to discover what
it is that would truly make you feel abundant, without filling
your head with senseless ideas due to the influence of
others. After all, it is YOUR life.
"The abundant life does not come to those who
have had a lot of obstacles removed from their path by others.
It develops from within and is rooted in strong mental and
moral fiber." William Mather Lewis.
