Tenacity in Motion

Persistence

Founder - Editor - Host

"Let your hook always be cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish," wrote Ovid, Roman poet who lived from 43 B.C. to 18 A.D.  It seems as if he knew Frank Epperson.

In 1905, eleven-year-old Frank Epperson lived in San Francisco.  He had left a fruit drink out overnight, with a stir-stick in it. It happened to be a chilly night.  The drink froze, producing a new treat.  This frozen treat was originally called the Epsicle, after the original inventor.

Epperson did not get a patent on his "frozen ice on a stick" until 18 years later in 1923.  The Epsicle was later renamed the Popsicle.  Epperson also invented the twin Popsicle, with two sticks so two children could share it.  He also invented the Fudgesicle, Creamsicle and Dreamsicle.  That is the incredible magic of tenacity.

Lao Tse wrote, "In this world, there is nothing softer or thinner than water. But to compel the hard and unyielding, it has no equal. That the weak overcomes the strong, that the hard gives way to the gentle -- this everyone knows. Yet no one asks accordingly."

It is difficult to continuously strive for your dreams when the most well intentioned among your colleagues have compelling stories of all those who failed, of those who "lost their shirts," and those who worked for years and had nothing to show for it.  You must learn to build an impervious wall against these negative influences.  Their advice is worth what you paid for it.  Absolutely nothing!

Keep with your plan of action.  Allow the power of your incredible perseverance to be a reflection of that which you see in nature.  The ocean displays periods of great activity, but she also rocks through cycles of calm; however, she never stops her constant motion.   Allow your dreams to evolve and to run through the cycles of success, much like nature runs through the cycles of the seasons.

"Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all," said Dale Carnegie.

Stay with it.  You have a monumental dream to establish.  Yours is unlike any other that has ever existed on the earth.
