Self Mastery

Founder - Editor - Host

“Iron is full of impurities that weaken it; through forging, it becomes steel and is transformed into a razor-sharp sword. Human beings develop in the same fashion,” says Morihei Ueshiba, author of The Art of Peace.   Think about the lives of your personal friends and business associates.  They have been faced with challenges, just like you.  Some of the challenges arise from external sources.  These need to be handled with firm decision.

Other challenges come from within.  They begin within your own mind, through your beliefs, your fears, or your own self-imposed limitations.

Carlos Castinada said, “It doesn’t matter how one was brought up. What determines the way one does anything is personal power.”  When you meet one of life's "grizzly bears," reach inside to find the mastery of self that can only come from your personal sense-of-tenacity.  Have confidence in your own ability to meet challenges with effective solutions.

Many who were born into poverty, misery, or unfortunate family circumstance have used their experiences to develop fortitude.  Examine the lives of Ronald Reagan, Andrew Carnegie, Oprah Winfrey, Napoleon Hill, Steven Ross, Conrad Hilton, for example.    Despite the negative influences of their surroundings, they focused on the positive seeds of their lives and created circumstances that would lead them into successful ventures.  They observed the trends of the marketplace, educated themselves through careful association with serious mentors, developed self-confidence, and created their own vision of the world.

“One can have no smaller or greater mastery than mastery of oneself,” said Leonardo de Vinci, Master of Art and Master of Self.

The great Buddha said, “One who conquers himself is greater than another who conquers a thousand times a thousand on the battlefield.”  Notice the common thread in these words, and in the words of those who have achieved success on multiple levels.  The golden fiber woven throughout remains prominent: Mastery of Self.
