The Self Confidence of an Athlete

Self-Confidence

Founder - Editor - Host

"Watch my dust" - Babe Ruth.

"You've got to take the initiative and play your game.
In a decisive set, confidence is the difference" - Chris Evert Lloyd.

"It's lack of faith that makes people afraid of meeting challenges, and I believe in myself"  - Muhammed Ali:

Three top-notch athletes with an attitude programmed for winning.  They have learned to trust their talent, use their adrenaline and believe what they are seeing.  Part of that seeing is mental visualization.  Olympic athletes train with mental images in which they “see” themselves in action, working through their routines with poise and grace, and ultimately, winning.  They practice the art of blocking out unwanted thoughts and focusing on peak performance.  Some choose only two images for each routine:  they may focus on rhythm and timing in one instance; in another, they may see the image of strength and form.

Winners maximize the benefits of practice sessions in which they focus on peak performance in the physical sense.  With the addition of directed mental images, they can run through their game on auto-pilot, watching their own performance as an out-of-body experience.

The difference is self-confidence.  They know there are no failures - there are only results.  By seizing the opportunity to perform at top level, visualizing the capacity of responding to every variable with accurate strokes, and allowing your body to put it all together, they expect winning results.

If you need to drive through fire, you prepare, wrap yourself in Nomex and CarbonX, and put the pedal to the metal until you are safely past your challenge, at rest as a winner.

Countless stories have been written about challenge and self-confidence.  It's the guy with self-confidence who becomes the hero, not the one with the most knowledge or money or connections.  Visualization is a major contributor to success.  “See” where you want to exist.
