Dr. Denis Waitley, one of the most sought-after keynote
speakers and productivity consultants in the world, says, "The
winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will,
and I am. Losers, on the other hand, concentrate their waking
thoughts on what they should have or would have done, or what
they can't do."
"Losers see thunderstorms; winners see rainbows. Losers see
the icy streets; winners put on ice skates. Losers are
aggressive; winners are assertive. Losers let it happen;
winners make it happen," he continues.
Each of you is as good as anyone who has ever been born.
Performance is a reflection of your value.
Vince Lombardi says, "Once a man has made a commitment to a
way of life, he puts the greatest strength in the world behind
him. It's something we call heart power. Once a man has made
this commitment, nothing will stop him short of success."
Do you know who you are? What your purpose in life is? What
you can do if you put the action behind your thoughts? Do you
believe it can happen to you? "Out of need springs desire,
and out of desire springs the energy and the will to win,"
continues Wailtley.
What about you? What will you give us?
When I was in my last year at Temple University, I had a
course called "Senior Seminar." It was a course with no
pre-determined description. Our mission was to put our
heart-and-soul into something we loved doing. At the end of
the semester, we were to give our presentation to the rest of
our peers.
The variety of talents was astounding! Some took photographs,
some displayed paintings. One played the harmonica...and
PLAY the harmonica, he did! He played it like a
ravenous lover! Like an explosion, unleashed! Like a storm
with gale-force winds! Then he played two at once.
Twenty-five years later, I still remember his spectacular
performance.
He thought he wasn't good enough to do much more with his
talent. Besides, how can you make money doing THAT? I guess
he should have asked John Mayall, or Sonny Boy Williamson, or
Rob Paparozzi with the Original Blues Brothers Band.
Share your talents. Do what you love. You don't have to get
it perfect. You just have to get it going.
