Do you desire prosperity? Do you think you are valuable
enough to have it?
Most people are not totally honest about their views on
prosperity. They say things like, "Money can't buy
happiness," as they are purchasing the next lottery ticket.
They actually wish for prosperity, but don't have enough faith
in themselves to make it a reality.
Perhaps they are so convinced, by the barrage of negative
feedback, that prosperity assures lack of joy. The tabloids
certainly anchor that belief system by reporting every
adversity suffered by those of wealth.
The facts remain that all people suffer from adversity at
various times throughout their lives. It is the nature of
humanity. Those who accept prosperity have become experts at
bouncing back and seizing opportunity without fear of
failure. They simply see the opportunity and expect a
result.
Wayne F. Dyer says, "Abundance is not something we acquire. It
is something we tune into. There's no scarcity of opportunity
to make a living at what you love. There is only a scarcity of
resolve to make it happen."
St. Jerome (340-420 A.D.), scholar, translator and writer,
summarized this propensity of man when he wrote, "If there is
but little water in the stream, it is the fault, not of the
channel, but of the source."
How many fascinating "Streams of Water" can you name? Those
people who finally got sick and tired of being sick and
tired...those who, at a dark time in their past, were living
in their cars like Robert Kiyosaki (author of the Rich
Dad, Poor Dad series of books), or working as
dishwashers like Randy Gage (world class MLM speaker and
educator) , or reaping paltry social security checks like
Colonel Sanders (of Kentucky Fried Chicken
fame)?
The list is astounding. Prosperity happens as the result of a
change in belief. A change in the acceptance patterns of your
station in life. A change in resolve and determination to
succeed. A transformation in the way you view yourself and
your ability to manifest your talents.
Eric Butterworth says, "Prosperity is a way of living and
thinking, and not just money or things. Poverty is a way of
living and thinking, and not just a lack of money or things."
"I found it easier to get rich than I did to make excuses,"
confessed Jim Rohn, leading guru on self-achievement.
What excuses do you make? Tell you what...make a list of your
excuses. Go ahead...I'll bet you can list 20 or more. Now,
alter your belief system for a moment. Examine why each one
of them is without true merit.
For example:
Excuse: I don't have any "track record" that would verify
that I am an authority.
Altered belief: I have fresh, new ideas that are totally
different from the established few! People are ready for a
change!
Excuse: I'm too old to get started now.
Altered belief: With my age and experience, I will be able to
achieve success in a fraction of the time it would take a
younger person.
Excuse: I'll have to talk it over with my wife.
Altered belief: Wait until I tell my wife how excited I am
about this opportunity. She has such faith in me and my
abilities! This will be great for all of us. My kids will
see me as a terrific role model, too - nothing could be
better!
You get the idea...
Next, allow yourself to dream like you did when you were a
teenager. When you believed you could be a famous football
player. When you thought about being a model in Vogue. When
you watched "Fame" and put yourself in the shoes of the
dancers. When you pictured owning that Ferrari...or that
house with the pool and a courtyard lined with classic cars.
When you saw yourself as originator of a Foundation for
Cognitive Health & Research. Or you had enough money to fly
your entire family to Hawaii for a world-class reunion.
Are they still there? Your dreams? Your goals? You only
need to tune-in to abundance in order for it to become
attracted to you. Not only will you discover in yourself a
person of strength and character, but you will also enrich the
lives of others.
