Success is a process. Condition yourself every
day to exercise your mental muscle. Make a decision to
succeed. As with any exercise plan, this requires that you
acknowledge the starting point, set a target goal with a date
for its achievement, and work routinely to achieve success.
You will use a variety of exercise equipment to help you in
your plan, and vary the routine every day for maximum
universal toning.
Invest
in a variety of personal development materials. These may be
books, reliable Internet sites that focus on developing
personal power, tapes or CD’s that you listen to while
driving, or a portable DVD player with DVD’s on specific
topics to take on the road and study in your free time. You
may enlist the services of a personal development coach.
These professionals may be general practice coaches, or may
specialize – in public speaking, working with multi-media
technology, taking professional photographs, developing
writing-for-business skills, creating graphics or websites for
business, or providing just the right recipe to
dress-for-success.
It is
amazing what you can do when you make an honest, committed
decision to succeed. Every day, you must do one thing that
you are uncomfortable doing - one thing that you don't really
want to do, but if you do it, will move you forward in your
progress toward success.
Brian
Tracy states, "When you engage in systematic, purposeful
action, using and stretching your abilities to the maximum,
you cannot help but feel positive and confident about
yourself."
It
doesn't matter that you feel a bit uncomfortable with what you
are doing. It is during those moments you confirm that you
are stretching yourself. Remember that you believe those
things you tell yourself - about yourself, your abilities,
your talents, your feelings.
You, and
you alone, have the ability to convince yourself to gain
confidence and take control of your life, rather than casting
your life into the wind and taking whatever it dishes out.
Your
brain always has an answer, so ask yourself good questions.
It's not what happens to you, but what you do with what
happens to you, that matters.
Jeremy
Bentham wrote, "Stretching his hand up to reach the stars, too
often man forgets the flowers at his feet." Don't forget the
flowers at your feet.
You will find that you don't have to reach for something far
off - you need only to discover and acknowledge the talents
you already possess.
