Self Respect
Founder - Editor - Host
Today is the day you strengthen your powers of Self-Control.
If you read all the strategists of personal development - of
personal achievement - you will recognize this Self-Control is
the glue that bonds all other characteristics together in the
total development of the self - Self-Control over your
attitude when you awaken, the one that sets the tempo of your
day. It involves control over the way you handle your
finances, the way you associate with colleagues and the
actions you take in your journey toward achievement.
History has documented countless attempts by man to control
the lives of others, as if control over the lives of other
people would somehow make their own lives better. Their egos
have grown so out-of-proportion that they believe in their own
decisions, without consideration of the ambitions of others.
They fear that others will sabotage their own dreams, and that
wealth and well-being exists in limited supply. Theories
about an expanding universe do not exist in their
“vocabulary.” Consideration for the needs of others
becomes voided in their own blind attempt to be self-serving.
They blame others for their own misfortune or lack of success,
rather than developing their own talents and directing them
toward their goals, in harmony with a master-mind group.
"Many people make the mistake of thinking that all the
challenges in their lives would dissipate if they just had
enough money. Nothing could be further from the truth. Earning
more money, in and of itself, rarely frees people. It's
equally ridiculous to tell yourself that greater financial
freedom and mastery of your finances would not offer your
greater opportunities to expand, share, and create value for
yourself and others," says Anthony Robbins.
You will develop higher levels of self-control by viewing "the
Big Picture," and envisioning the shape of your life down the
road - one year, five years, ten years, twenty years. If you
strategize and create ways to measure your own progress, it
will become much easier to take action based on this vision.
Ask others for help along the way, and offer your services in
return. The strength you have over your own self will
increase, and you will find yourself moving in positive ways
toward your goals.
