Life is getting better all the time, isn't it? A new day has
begun and opportunities are rolling in by the thousands. As
Ellen Metcalf said, "You have to recognize when the right
place and the right time fuse and take advantage of that
opportunity. There are plenty of opportunities out there. You
can't sit back and wait."
If you are sitting there, stunned, and thinking about the fact
that other people get all the breaks, but they never come to
you, sit up and open up. If you contemplate the vastness of
the world - the myriads of interests, products, services,
hobbies, needs, cures, and resources in a global setting - you
will begin to understand that there are unlimited
opportunities awaiting your action.
"The people who get on in this world are the people who get up
and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't
find them, make them," said George Bernard Shaw. Oprah
Winfrey always stays fresh and exciting because she never
misses the opportunity to re-invent herself. Look at her
character in "The Color Purple," and compare it to her present
day talk-show character - both of them, wonderful in their own
way.
"Boldness has beauty, power, magic in it," said Johann
Wolfgang von Goethe. That's what Oprah has! Add to that, the
power of passion for her craft, and you have the secret of the
lost treasure!
Do not be discouraged by the obstacles. Life will never be
perfect. You will never be able to sail into the sunset
without an occasional tempest. It is foolhardy to believe
that things always go well for successful people. Successful
people suffer from illnesses, or have unruly teenagers, or
listen to dissatisfied employees, or calm aging parents, too.
As much as they try to keep a smiling face to the limelight,
the tabloids will always capture a solitary moment of
heartache. But they forge on, undaunted.
That's what makes them great!
Grace Speare wrote, "Welcome every problem as an opportunity.
Each moment is the great challenge, the best thing that ever
happened to you . The more difficult the problem, the greater
the challenge in working it out."
Keep going! Seize your opportunities! Make your life match
the picture of success you hold in your mind. The world
awaits your directed action.
