The Neverending Story

Strategies for Success

Founder - Editor - Host

Did you ever feel that "this is the day my life has changed"?  This is that day.  I am making this statement for the public record.

Sometimes, things happen underneath the surface that you are totally unaware of.  Inspiration occurs from out of nowhere.  Ideas that have been brewing seem to suddenly connect with electrifying forces unbeknownst to us.  Intangible forces begin acting, perhaps by our own persistent spirit in conjunction with Infinite Intelligence.

Although George Bernard Shaw has long passed from this world, his words continue to resonate within my mind.  He wrote, "When I was a young man I observed that nine out of ten things I did were failures. I didn't want to be a failure, so I did ten times more work."

Me, too.

Abigail Adams, wife of John Adams, second President of the United States, said, "True greatness has its seat in the heart… it must be elevated by aspiring to great things and by daring to think yourself capable of them."

Back in those early days, women were not given much credence, but here was a woman with the insight to speak of the greatness within, the greatness that awaits our manifestation.

One of my favorite movies of all time is the 1984 tale, The Neverending Story.  It is the story of Atreju, a young "warrior" who endeavors to save the Empire of Fantasia from "The Nothing."

With a passing glance, one might be tempted to ignore the  the brilliance in which the author illustrates the three steps that every human being must master, if he is to achieve success.

The journey begins...

At the Northern Oracle, a gnarly old man-elf reveals that a warrior must have absolute courage and confidence in order to pass through.  Many have not survived this first step.

Step one:  Courage and confidence in our ability.

After conquering this first step, Atreju travels farther, thwarted by the discouragement of the entire empire, including his best companion, only to come face-to-face with his true self.

Step two:  Examination of our self and the motives that drive us, followed by an acceptance of our self, with all our flaws and talents.

In the final part of the journey, Atreju has to face "The Nothing", an adversary with insatiable drive, one who seeks to destroy him and everything for which he had ever dreamed.  As he holds on through a storm that destroys everything except himself and one glowing speck of the remaining empire, he finally understands that it only takes the affirmation of what he loves in order to have the beauty of the empire return.

Step three:  Acknowledging that our fears are groundless.  Our success is right here in the present, ready to be manifest as soon as we concentrate on the passion in our life.

Marketing Tip 1:

"The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don't define them, learn about them, or even seriously consider them as believable or achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them." -- Denis Waitley
