Decision
Founder - Editor - Host
Decision. Decisiveness. Determined Action. "It
does not take much strength to do things, but it requires
great strength to decide on what to do," said Elbert
Hubbard. Developing the ability to make a firm choice is the
first-step to achieving success. Then, following through with
positive action is critical.
Ian McKeithen wrote, "Decision is a sharp knife that cuts
clean and straight. Indecision is a dull one that hacks and
tears and leaves ragged edges behind." When a direct path has
been determined, your direction has been set, and you are able
to build the power you need in order to achieve your goal.
Procrastination is the opposite of decision. It is based on
fear - fear of obstacles, fear of criticism, fear of failure,
fear of past failures. When you make a firm decision, you are
confronting these fears - facing them head-on with the force
of resoluteness propelling you onward. Thomas Carlyle said,
"The block of granite which was an obstacle in the pathway of
the weak becomes a stepping-stone in the pathway of the
strong."
Decision is a facet of your frame of reference. Frame of
reference is built upon your beliefs - beliefs determined by
your past experiences and the experiences of those who taught
you. Bear in mind that there are other ways to approach these
decisions, so endeavor to seek out information from experts
who can guide you. Your vocabulary is congruent with your
beliefs, and can determine your decisiveness or lack thereof.
Develop a vocabulary that displays your strength and belief in
self. Choose a mentor to guide you in pursuing success, and
expose yourself to her writings. Awaken your mind to the
patterns of successful people. Your ability to move with
determined resoluteness will increase, and you will experience
the success that walks hand-in-hand with your firmness of
action.
