"The problems of this world cannot possibly be solved by
skeptics or cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious
realities. We need men who can dream of things that never
were," said John F. Kennedy. That is the magic of
innovation.
There is a little "blurb" floating around the internet that
begins, "If you were born before 1945, consider the changes we
have witnessed: We were born before television, before polio
shots, frozen foods, Xerox, plastic, contact lenses, Frisbees
and the PILL...We were born before credit cards, split atoms,
laser beams and ball point pens; before pantyhose,
dishwashers, clothes dryers, electric blankets, air
conditioners in our homes, drip-dry clothes and before man
walked on the moon...a "chip" meant a piece of wood, hardware
meant hardware and software wasn't even a word."
Need I say more? In 55 years, it is mind boggling to consider
all the changes that have occurred in how people live and
communicate with each other. These changes certainly support
the idea that there is nothing beyond the ability of the human
spirit when set into action through determined decision. If
you scan a revised dictionary, you will find thousands of
words that never existed 15 years ago. If they did, they were
defined differently.
Arthur C. Clarke wrote, "The only way to find the limits of
the possible is by going beyond them to the impossible." This
is where the creative mind takes over, where innovation steps
in and becomes self-determining. Dreams are blueprints when
acted upon by a mind that can envision the result with clarity
and belief.
"The person interested in success has to learn to view failure
as a healthy, inevitable part of the process of getting to the
top," says Dr. Joyce Brothers. Thomas Edison did not step in
one day and say, "Light bulb. Voila!" He kept at it through
2,000 steps.
This is the image of success…to see the result, and to keep on
stepping until that result is achieved. Do not be discouraged
by those who do not see your result in their mind’s eye. Your
clarity of purpose will sustain you until it is transformed
into physical reality.
"If you build it, they will come."
