It's a funny thing about courage...the more you use it, the
less you notice that you are practicing it. It takes on a
life of its own, becoming a habitual part of the fabric of
your life, that thread of gold, running through the tapestry.
The one that makes the fabric noticed by others, but blends in
with the whole to produce a work of art.
"With courage you will dare to take risks, have the strength
to be compassionate and the wisdom to be humble. Courage is
the foundation of integrity." said Keshaven Nair, author of
A Higher Standard of Leadership.
Courage. Think of the women you know who exhibit a high level
of courage, observed in the effort they show working a job and
raising their children. They act as an advocate for their
children in all areas of their young lives, from standing up
to "the bully's" oversized dad, to fighting the health
insurance agencies or presenting new ideas to the school
board.
In the play yard, you will always find a few unique children
who display a keenly developed level of courage. They compete
in water polo or football, accept the new kid in the
neighborhood in spite of their peers' protests, and try out
for the basketball team, even if the guards tower over them.
Then there is the man who dares to start his own business,
with no promise except his own toil and business abilities.
He forges ahead, in spite of the feeling that he is being
swallowed up by fog in all areas in which his experience is
lacking.
"Once we make our decision, all things will come to us.
Auspicious signs are not a superstition, but a confirmation.
They are a response," said Deng Ming-Dao.
Keep yourself open to the field of all possibilities.
Buddha said, "Let yourself be open and life will be easier. A
spoon of salt in a glass of water makes the water undrinkable.
A spoon of salt in a lake is almost unnoticed."
