Bill Gates - the man with the big bucks and an eye for
discovery; the man with a vision of the future that is
expanded daily. He is quick to give accolades to the people
around him. The fact is, that an extraordinary world is built
out of constant change, and he is willing to seize every
opportunity as circumstances change.
His point of view is reflected in this statement: "We always
overestimate the change that will occur in the next two years
and underestimate the change that will occur in the next ten.
Don't let yourself be lulled into inaction."
Les Brown echoed this philosophy in his many speeches on
growth and personal development. "You cannot expect to
achieve new goals or move beyond your present circumstances
unless you change," he said.
Edmund Burke was passionate in his words, "We must obey the
great law of change. It is the most powerful law of nature."
Do you think he felt strongly about change?
Change is good. The knowledge that you are in constant motion
and change is a comforting thought. When things are going
great in your life, they will move into the realm of
not-so-great for a time, then back to great again.
Your reality is based on what you know and what you know you
don't know. When your life changes and moves into the realm
of "not-so-great," you are challenged by "what you don't know
you don't know." That is where true growth occurs. That is
when you become better. That is when you are challenged to
think beyond your present circumstances. When the opportunity
for new vision in your life becomes "alive."
George Matthew Adams said, "If you have nothing else to do,
look about you and see if there isn't something close at hand
that you can improve! It may make you wealthy, though it is
more likely that it will make you happy."
