Thomas Edison said, "Restlessness is discontent and discontent
is the first necessity of progress. Show me a thoroughly
satisfied man and I will show you a failure." You will often
read about the attitude of successful people and the way they
interpret their world. They have the ability to put a twist
into every situation that arises. Edison clearly found the
twist to the spirit of discontent that which propels an
ambitious man into action.
Combine that with
Ralph Waldo Emerson's words of wisdom, "Self-trust is the
first secret to success," and you have access to a powerful
fuel - one that can drive you into taking the action that most
people fear. Action is the necessary ingredient for massive
success.
Observe the people
around you. Observe their drive...their great
ambition...their constant ideas. Most people over 80
percent - do not display drive, or ambition, or a constant
flow of ideas. That places you at a great advantage if you
are among those who are determined to accomplish your goals.
It does not take
the analytical intelligence of a rocket scientist to
understand that a small amount of constant action, applied
daily, consistently, over a long period of time, sets you
apart from the rest of the pack. It sets you up to succeed.
Your attitude
during this time is crucial. You may feel discontent inside,
but still have the attitude that can conquer any adversity
that shows its cowardly head. Have full belief in your own
brand of action. Trust yourself and your instincts. Keep
your vision in the forefront of your consciousness. As you
observe those who are succeeding, look with admiring eyes on
them. Watch how they juggle the diverse areas of their
lives. Observe how they handle the demands that others put on
their time. Analyze how they handle adversity. Determine
whether their response is an act for free media attention
even negative attention may be more effective than advertising
or if they are displaying a true show of emotion.
Successful people are expected to function with a refined
sense of self-control, but as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis said,
they hold in their hearts the emotions of a simple person for
the moments that are most important of those we know on
earth.
You
are on the runway to success. You are a jet, revving its
engines, charging down the runway, climbing to greater heights
with every passing minute. Trust in your ability to make
progress. When your attitude is right, success will follow.
